The Shoreham Garden Club gives an award each year to a senior in Shoreham-Wading River High School. The award fund was established in 1978 at the suggestion of Agnes Allen. In 1999 it was renamed the Agnes R. Allen Award. The 2008 and 2009 awards were given in memory of Elizabeth Halama, a past president of the Garden Club and an environmental activist.
The prize is awarded for outstanding research work in the fields of either botany, horticulture, or environmental science.
Congratulations to this year's winner --- Kristi Conway.
